A SEOTesting alternative for teams that want answers more than tests

Last updated: 2026-10-30

In short

SEOTesting is built to prove whether an SEO change worked, with time-based, split and switch tests on your own Search Console and GA4 data, from $50 a month. GSC Magic is not a testing tool. It suits people who mainly want to ask Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor about their Search Console, Bing and GA4 data, at a lower price and with a free plan.

The short answer

SEOTesting measures pages before and after a change using your Search Console clicks, impressions and position, plus conversions when Google Analytics is connected, and gives a significance figure so you can tell a real lift from noise. It also offers content decay, cannibalization and CTR opportunity reports, a plain-English monthly report, Google update impact by page group, Bing data on the main dashboard and an MCP server for Claude that its help center describes as a proof of concept.

If your job is proving the impact of SEO work to stakeholders, SEOTesting is purpose-built for that and GSC Magic is not a substitute. If you mostly want fast answers about traffic, indexing and Bing or GA4 numbers inside an AI assistant, GSC Magic covers that for less, from a free plan up to an Agency plan for 25 sites.

Keep using it if

  • You need to prove that a specific change moved clicks, with control groups and a significance figure.
  • You report SEO impact to clients or management and the test write-ups are your evidence.
  • You need unlimited users at a fixed price per site count.
  • You use its internal linking credits, monthly plain-English report or Google update impact by page group.

GSC Magic fits better if

  • You rarely run formal SEO tests and mainly want to understand traffic changes.
  • You want to start free, or pay $19 a month for 10 sites instead of paying per site tier.
  • You use ChatGPT, Cursor or VS Code as well as Claude and want one MCP connection for all of them.
  • You want full Bing Webmaster Tools access, URL Inspection in batches and Core Web Vitals from your AI assistant.
  • You want your Search Console history stored beyond Google's 16-month window.

Using them together

Yes. They do different jobs and both read Search Console through Google's access. You can log and measure tests in SEOTesting, and use GSC Magic in the same Claude conversation for diagnosis: Bing comparisons, batch URL Inspection, Core Web Vitals and GA4 landing pages. Claude allows several connectors at once, so each tool can answer the part it is good at.

Questions

Can GSC Magic run SEO split tests?

No. GSC Magic compares periods in reports such as report_traffic_drops, but it has no test setup, control groups or significance calculation. For that, SEOTesting is the right tool.

Does SEOTesting have an MCP server?

Yes. Its help center documents an MCP server at mcp.seotesting.com for Claude Desktop, claude.ai and Claude Code, and describes it as a proof of concept with some functionality still limited.

Which one stores more history?

SEOTesting says it is not a Search Console archiving tool and stores only limited data, such as dashboard performance and tests. GSC Magic Pro and Agency store 16 months of Search Console history and keep it after Google drops it.

Is GSC Magic cheaper?

For most small setups, yes: a free plan for one site and Pro at $19 a month for 10 sites, against $50 a month for one site on SEOTesting. SEOTesting includes unlimited users and testing features that GSC Magic does not have, so compare what you will actually use.
