Google Search Console, Bing and GA4 in ChatGPT

ChatGPT lets paid plans add custom MCP connectors through Developer mode. GSC Magic is a remote MCP server with OAuth, which is exactly what ChatGPT expects.

In short

In ChatGPT (paid plans) turn on Developer mode under Settings → Apps & Connectors, create a custom app with the MCP server URL https://mcp.gscmagic.com/mcp and OAuth authentication, approve once on the GSC Magic page, and ChatGPT can read your Search Console, Bing and GA4 data in chat.

Set up in 4 steps

  1. Create a GSC Magic account, connect Google and import your sites.
  2. In ChatGPT open Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced settings and turn on Developer mode. On Business and Enterprise an admin may need to allow it.
  3. Choose Create app, name it GSC Magic, paste https://mcp.gscmagic.com/mcp as the MCP server URL and pick OAuth as the authentication.
  4. Finish the sign-in on the GSC Magic page, then start a chat, enable the app and ask about your Search Console data.

Good to know

  • Custom MCP apps need a paid ChatGPT plan; the Free plan cannot add them. Availability of Developer mode can differ by workspace policy.
  • ChatGPT has no field for a custom header, so the token fallback used by some editors does not apply here: use OAuth.
  • Everything is read-only unless you turn on write mode on a paid plan, so your agent can look but not change your site.

What to ask once connected

  • "List my Search Console properties and the one with the most clicks last 28 days."
  • "Which queries sit in positions 4–10 with the most impressions? Suggest title changes."
  • "Compare clicks this month with last month by page and tell me what moved."
  • "Which URLs in my sitemap are not indexed, and what does the inspection say?"
  • "How many sessions came from ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude last month, and to which pages?"

Troubleshooting

There is no Developer mode or Create app option.

Custom MCP apps need a paid ChatGPT plan, and in Business or Enterprise workspaces an admin must allow them. Free accounts cannot add custom apps at all; Claude is the alternative with a free tier.

OAuth fails with a redirect error.

Pick OAuth (not "No authentication" or an API key) when creating the app. GSC Magic registers ChatGPT's callback automatically; if the error persists, delete the app and create it again so ChatGPT re-registers.

ChatGPT answers from memory instead of calling the tools.

Start the message with the app name or say "use GSC Magic". Ask for a specific property and date range; vague questions let the model skip the tool call.

The app connected but returns a permission error.

The Google account you approved has no access to that Search Console property, or the site is not imported in the dashboard. Import it under Sites, or reconnect Google with the right account.

Questions about ChatGPT

Why can't I see Developer mode?

It is only available on paid plans and, in Business or Enterprise workspaces, only when an admin has allowed custom apps. Check OpenAI's current documentation for your plan.

Is my Google password shared with OpenAI?

No. ChatGPT only receives an OAuth token for GSC Magic. Your Google sign-in happens on Google's page, and GSC Magic stores the resulting token encrypted.

Can ChatGPT change my sitemaps?

Only if you enable write mode in GSC Magic on a paid plan and approve the extra Google permission. By default every tool is read-only.
