Google Search Console, Bing and GA4 in Windsurf

Windsurf's Cascade agent supports remote MCP servers. GSC Magic connects with an access token in a header.

Create a read-only access token in the GSC Magic dashboard, add the server to Windsurf's mcp_config.json with serverUrl https://mcp.gscmagic.com/mcp and an Authorization: Bearer header, reload MCP servers, and Cascade can query your Search Console, Bing and GA4 data.

Set up in 3 steps

  1. Create a GSC Magic account, connect Google, then create an access token under Connect → Tokens (read-only is fine).
  2. Add the snippet below to Windsurf's MCP configuration (mcp_config.json).
  3. Reload the MCP servers in Cascade and ask for your Search Console properties.

Good to know

  • Tokens can be read-only and expire after a set number of days. Revoke them any time from the dashboard.
  • Everything is read-only unless you turn on write mode on a paid plan, so your agent can look but not change your site.

What to ask once connected

  • "List my Search Console properties and the one with the most clicks last 28 days."
  • "Which queries sit in positions 4–10 with the most impressions? Suggest title changes."
  • "Compare clicks this month with last month by page and tell me what moved."
  • "Which URLs in my sitemap are not indexed, and what does the inspection say?"
  • "How many sessions came from ChatGPT, Perplexity and Claude last month, and to which pages?"

Troubleshooting

Cascade lists the server but every call returns 401.

The token was revoked, expired or pasted with a space. Create a new one and replace the whole Bearer value.

The server does not appear after editing mcp_config.json.

Use the Refresh button in the MCP panel or restart Windsurf, and check the JSON is valid.

Too many tools for the client limit.

Windsurf caps the total number of tools across servers. Disable servers you are not using; GSC Magic exposes only the tools your plan and keys allow.

Questions about Windsurf

Why a token and not OAuth?

Windsurf's OAuth return address is not on GSC Magic's allow-list yet. A read-only token is the safe alternative and takes a minute to create.
