CTR opportunity calculator

In short

Enter a page's or query's monthly impressions and current CTR from Search Console, and the CTR you aim for. The calculator shows the extra clicks per month and per year, and, if you add a conversion rate and a value, the extra conversions and revenue.

Best source: the CTR your own pages already get at the position you aim for. In Search Console, look at pages that rank there, or ask GSC Magic for your average CTR by position.

How it works

Clicks = impressions × CTR

Search Console reports impressions and CTR per query and page. At the same impressions, a higher CTR means proportionally more clicks; the calculator multiplies and compares.

Use your own CTR curve

CTR at a given position varies a lot by query type, search features and device. Published averages are a rough guide; the CTR your site already gets at the target position is a better estimate.

Impressions can change too

A better position usually also brings more impressions for related queries. The calculator keeps impressions fixed, so the estimate is conservative.

Do it for every page with GSC Magic

The calculator handles one page at a time. GSC Magic's CTR outliers and quick wins reports find every page whose CTR is far below your own average for its position, ranked by the clicks it could gain.

Find pages whose CTR is far below our average for their position and estimate the clicks we'd gain.

What is our average CTR by position bucket (1-3, 4-10, 11-20) over the last 90 days?

Questions

What is a good CTR in Search Console?

It depends on position, query and search features. Compare a page with others of yours at a similar average position: a page far below their CTR usually needs a better title or description.

How do I raise CTR without changing position?

Rewrite the title and meta description to match what people search for, add structured data where it fits, and fix snippets that show outdated information.

Where do I find impressions and CTR?

In Search Console's Performance report, per query or per page, for the period you choose. GSC Magic can pull the same numbers for all your pages at once.
